Parentmail 17.3.23

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you all for joining in with Red Nose Day and for your generous donations to Comic Relief.  We have raised £272.29 on the gate and online so far.  The school was a sea of red today – a welcome brightness in this dull weather!   Special thanks to Year 5 pupils, families and staff for the huge and wonderful charity stall to raise money for Comic Relief.  ‘Stall’ is too small a word – there were about 10 stalls, selling cakes, cookies, drinks, sweets, friendship bracelets, henna and much more.  We don’t yet know how much the stalls raised but will share this with you as soon as we can.  Thank you again for supporting this fundraiser.

Ramadan

Ramadan will be starting next week.  If your child is going to be fasting (or partial fasting) and/or praying please send a letter in with your child to give to the class teacher.  It’s important that we know children have your permission for this.  Thank you, and we wish you all the blessings of the holy month.

Parents’/Carers’ Consultations: week beginning Monday 27th March

You will shortly be sent a link to sign up for face-to-face parents’/carers’ consultations in school.  We look forward to sharing your child’s progress with you, and you will have the opportunity to look at some of their work.

Sharing Sessions with Parents/Carers

Thank you to Year 1 parents/carers for coming into school to share their children’s work on their Learning Project: Rio de Vida.   We hope that you all enjoyed your visit to Brazil!

Walk Once a Week Challenge

We are delighted to share with you that Lakeside is one of 10 schools on the Walk to School Challenge Wall of Fame.  This means that Lakeside pupils are doing an excellent job of walking to school at least once a week.  Thank you parents/carers for making this happen!

Safety in the Foundation Phase playground

Please may we respectfully ask parents and carers to be extra vigilant of safety in the playground, especially if you bring bikes, scooters, skateboards, etc., with you.  We would also like to remind parents/carers that children are not permitted to use the play equipment before or after school hours for Health & Safety reasons.  Thank you.

Wishing you all a pleasant weekend,

Rachel Mitchell, Headteacher
